The role of antibiotics in Aotearoa

Antibiotics can save lives, but they can also have side effects and contribute to the development of antibiotic resistance. When antibiotics become ineffective against the bacteria causing infections, it's known as antibiotic resistance.

By avoiding unnecessary antibiotic use, we can avoid side effects and help prevent bacteria from becoming resistant to antibiotics. This will help preserve their effectiveness for you, your whānau, and your community.
